Gusher Keeps Production Moving with Large Self-Priming Pump Shipment

Order from sister Ruthman division Great Lakes Pumps ships out for FCA Chrysler
As essential infrastructure supporting businesses, our manufacturing has continued on pre-pandemic pace, including completion of an order for 20 Gusher SPP Series Self-Priming pumps for Giffin paint systems. The order was sold through Ruthman Companies’ division Great Lakes Pumps & Supply. The pumps will be installed at FCA Chrysler’s new Jeep assembly plant at Mack Ave in Detroit, Michigan and its Warren, Michigan truck plant.
The new Mack Ave Jeep Cherokee plant is the first new automotive plant in the Motor City since 1991, and will feature a 790,500-square-foot paint shop. The Warren Truck plant is being renovated to accommodate Jeep Wagoneer manufacturing. The Gusher pumps will form an integral part of the paint shops being built by Giffin, pumping waste from the e-coat and phosphate paint systems to industrial waste.
Gusher SPP Series Self Priming pumps can manage up to 130 feet of head with capacities of 1200 gpm. The pumps in the Giffin order range from 370 gpm to 550 gpm. Construction of 316 SS wetted parts provides corrosion resistance against the chemicals being pumped.
These self-priming pumps require no external valves, air separators or priming chambers, simplifying installation and maintenance. The heavy-duty pumps feature a back-pull out design to allow for service of the rotating elements without full pump removal. Clean out ports are standard to quickly clear any debris which may fall into the system–a pump hazard that is almost inevitable in a busy plant environment.
